Hi, I’m noticing that when I edit a page on my website, thousands of untitled pages are created. This has happened twice in the past month. Any ideas what could be causing this?

  • Very strange. Never heard of this before. My only guess is that there’s plugin that hacking the site or whatever.

Install Wordfence and run a scan. After the scan scroll down and you should will see a list of problems. You might be able to determine if a plugin(s) or file(s) causing the issue.

    Again, very strange.

I have Wordfence. I’ll try that, thanks

I ran the scan and it detected 3 plugins that were abandoned by their authors. I deleted them, but not sure if it fixed the problem. I’m going to be editing and adding new pages later today and tomorrow so I’ll keep a look out to see if thousands of new pages get created again. thanks

Been talking with my web host and it turns out that it’s a problem with publishing a page that’s in draft status. Publishing a page without saving it to draft works fine. The thousands of pages are getting created when I first save to draft, save it a few times, and then try to publish. They have no idea what’s causing it, but are going to investigate.

the problem was caused by the plugin: Post Type Switcher
