The Feed Me Social plugin is accepting my access token without errors on the Instagram options page but when I look at my site the Instagram feed is not loading. It returns: this user does not exist. I’m guessing the reason is that I’m working in a sandbox mode. I thought having my default admin user would be enough to get a feed on the beta version of my site while building. I’m not sure how to get the go live option to become available, currently it is grayed out. I’ve read that every new app created starts in sandbox mode and once fully tested, it can go live, but since I did not create the app, I’m not sure how to proceed. How can I fix “this user does not exist” error for my Instagram feed?

Thanks for contacting us! Try this shortcode on a test page and see if it comes up. If it does then that could mean your instagram account is restricted in some way. Do you have any special settings set on your instagram account?

Thank you for the quick response! The shortcode did not work. I don’t have any special settings on my account.

No problem! What was the error message? Do you have an example link?

Your website needs to be published for the feeds to work properly.

This doesn’t hold true. I was able to get another instagram feed to work on my unpublished site. Any ideas what may be wrong? The set ups on both instagram accounts are the same other than the feed that is not working is in sandbox mode. What is the proper way to set up Feed Them Social to work properly in sandbox mode?

    (@slickremix)

What do you mean by sandbox mode, meaning your site has an under construction plugin or something that does not allow your visitors to see your site or what? We don’t have any methods for displaying the feed besides the site being live. If something on your site is blocking our scripts from retrieving info from instagrams API then our feed will fail on your site no matter what I believe.

Sandbox mode on Instagram. My site is unpublished, I am able to bring in a feed from another instagram account with no problems. So there is nothing on my site blocking scripts. Following the instructions at this link, https://www.slickremix.com/docs/how-to-create-instagram-access-token/, when I register a new client for Feed Them Social, the Client Status is in sandbox mode. Am I setting something incorrectly?

Gotcha. No you are doing everything ok except we do not have an option to show a feed while it is in sandbox mode for instagram. From a few searches I just did on that it appears if you create an app and add the scope public_content you can view the Instagram API while in sandbox mode. So don’t use our auto token generator, you will have to manually create an app and go through that process. https://www.slickremix.com/docs/how-to-create-instagram-access-token/

Look at the first answer, he explains what he did. I hope that helps out.
