    A couple of years ago, I made a mistake with the theme I chose for my blog.

    I looked for a photography theme. And obviously, for something cheap. I found one on discount. Technical support was great. But when I learned more about blogging, I recognized that I’ve made a bad choice. That theme wasn’t for a blog site.

    Since the end of last year, I was looking for a more suitable theme for my blog. I looked on WP repository and on marketplaces. I looked for free and paid themes. I had a few finalists, but I wasn’t convinced. In the case of free themes on WP library, I tested the most popular ones, but they weren’t specialized for blogging.

    Some when, I found Blocksy.

    This theme looked good. And customization options were great. A couple of months later, customization options are even better. So, I decided to give it a try.

    Beside that Blocksy is a theme for blogs, its customization options are beyond what anyone could expect from a free theme. Sure, there is room for improvement. I think developers are taking notice.

    I won’t spend much words trying to explain to you what you can achieve with Blocksy. Keep in mind that you can install this free theme and try it for yourself. Believe me: YOU WILL BE AMAZED.

    Room for improvement?

    Sure, we always want more. Here after are some recommendations, and I wouldn’t mind seeing them in a paid version. I believe to achieve what the designers & developers have done, takes time and should be rewarded.

    a) Social sharing:
    – More social sharing icons, e.g. WhatsApp for mobile view.
    – Google+ can be deleted from social networks accounts.

    b) Customization options:
    – Panel for image captions, I haven’t seen this option before, but it would be nice to have an easy way to change font family, font size, etc. rather that changing CSS.
    – Also, for blockquotes and related posts.
    – Border radius and shadow customization for images.

    c) Homepage builder
    – Some easy page builder for the homepage that allows us the create a structure with selected blog posts, for example: a most recent section, a recommended section, and so on by selecting post categories or tags.

    d) Others
    – CTA button on header should have the same animation on hover than other buttons.
    – Cookie notice keeps appearing even after pressing “Accept” button when going back to homepage.
    – Placeholders for ads within content area.
    – AMP support.
    – Possibility to add icons via fontawesome.
    – Better documentation. First time WP’s users get overwhelmed with a lot of information. They may want to change something, but they don’t know where to find it. So, detailed documentation is key to let users know what they can do with this theme.

    That’s all for now. And, I know, the code will be heavier when some of these options are added to the theme, making it slower.

    Congratulations for the developers and designers, you have achieved a GREAT work.

    Hey @iluminancia, thank you for your kind words and ideas ??

    a) Will do that soon
    b) Image captions – will think more on that.
    Blockquotes – there is an option already to change the font, please go to Customizer -> Typography -> Blockquote
    Border Radius and shadow – we have this in our to do list ??

    c) We plan to bring this functional in the near future with the help of Gutenberg Blocks.
    d) Header CTA – this will be done in the new Header Builder
    Cookie notice – actually this happens if you are using a Cache Plugin, but we prepared some instructions on how to fix that.
    Ads, AMP, Fontawesome – we have this in our to do list.
    Better documentation – you are absolutely right, this will be done soon also.

    We are monitoring the theme performance, and we will not permit a speed decrease even after adding more features – on the contrary, we will do our best to make it even faster ??
