• I just installed this theme and it took my server down. Looks like a big load on httpd and mysqld. Has anyone run into this problem?

  • What theme?

probably the one in the tag.

Oh…silly me for not thinking of that ??

Yes, I’m talking about the “magazine basic” theme. I like the look and possibilities of the theme, but as soon as I installed it and started playing around with its options, my server started crawling. I was barely able to log in to restart it.

When I restarted the server, everything was back to normal. I could view some other websites I’ve got on it… speed was back to normal. But as soon as I went back to setting up the blog and this theme, the server started crawling again. Something is awfully wrong with this theme… it’s got a looping query from hell or something going on.

I’d like to know if anyone else has ever used this theme and had similar results… any solutions???

Yup – I just got hit by this as well. It hit me within 20 minutes of upgrading to WP 2.8.5 (the theme had been on the server a couple of days but unused or looked at).
    – first I knew about it was an email from my hosting service saying they’d suspended by account due to server abuse (all I had done was leave the Theme editor open and the Home page view open (both on the magazine basic theme) while I popped out to the shop and back.
    – the tech file they included with the email has the following data (if it helps anyone)
    – hundreds of entries like this one (this one obfuscated where necessary) –

    username 14801 5092 1 08:46 ? S 0:00

Anyone got any clues what any of this could mean? They say they’ll re-activate the account (when they get around to it) but I have to delete or fix the offending script within 24 hours, leaving it disabled until I do so, or they will permanently ban me.

    Thanks in advance

Hi – I am wondering if this is the issue I had… (sort of).

I was just customizing the theme, and then saw the message to upgrade to 2.8.5, allowed WP to do it, then logged off my pc for a while.

When I came back to work on it, my admin AND public pages all loaded totally blank.

It’s not a memory issue per-say on my end, because our server is set at 64M, not 32M (php.ini).

We thought it was a script issue – totally wiped it out and reinstalled, everything worked… uploaded the theme and it went back to white. Deleted the theme, have since tried 3 others and they all work fine.

So obviously there is a bug somewhere. (I’m on a dedicated server so I haven’t gotten any complaints from our admin, BUT now that you guys mention it, for the past 2 nights my server has been crawling… I thought it was something else – but have only been working on this theme for about 2 nights!)
