• Hello!

This symbol “?” has started appearing again in my Yoko theme. I’m not a coder. I’ve tried doing “search and replace” but that doesn’t help.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!!

  • Are you pasting content into WordPress?

    Hello!

I’ve imported content from another one of my blogs. I’m using this same theme on my other blog with no issues. Very confusing. ??

How did you carry out the import?

    Hi esmi!

I exported the posts from one WP blog and imported it into the other. Does that help? That’s about as technical as I get. ??

I used the WP importer and exporter that I found in the admin area…

Then it sounds like the issue may have originally been in the content for first site. Do you know what encoding the database on that site uses?

<!– EDIT: On reflection this is gibberish and doesn’t answer the original question, will leave here just incase it helps someone –>
Usually it’s an unsupported symbol (copied from MS word usually). if you’re not too far gone you could try clear out your content on the site you’re building then do a find/replace on the XML file you used to import the content.

It’ll be very subtle stylized quote marks or hyphens most likely. Just open the file in a text editor and replace them all with the same symbol but typed from your own keyboard.

Once done reupload the content to your wordpress install

Rereading your post, it might be because you’re not using the HTML version of the symbol so instead of “&” use “&”

There are various HTML codes for things like accents and “&” look at this website, it might solve your problem.

Hum…even my new posts are having this symbol appear and the site I exported my posts from do not have the symbol and also uses the same theme. It does seem to appear in areas where an accent or a “‘” was used. I have over 100 posts with this issue. I’ve tried doing a search and replace, which did work once before when this issue occurred, but it isn’t working this time.

Is there a way for a non-coding person to fix this? I don’t feel comfortable with HTML unless it’s explained for a laymen. ??

    Thank you!!

sheenp? Could you please refrain from opening up new topics for the same thing?

I’ve deleted your other duplicate, if you want to discuss this specific problem please keep it in one place.

Edit: Actually, you’ve the same topic at the other thread too.
