    Dear support,
I have installed Google Maps Widget in my wordpress-site and entered the API-Key. The first moments the map shows, but after half a minute it turns grey and says “This site can’t load Google Maps correctly – Do you own this website? – g.co/staticmaperror/signature”.
When I click the grey area, the popup shows a perfect map.
The developer console for the Statis API Key is a jungle to me. What have I done wrong, have I done anything wrong, how can I fix this asap?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alexander

    Hi,
Did you put restrictions on the API key to only work on a certain domain?

I don’t think so, I followed the procedure as described on https://www.gmapswidget.com/documentation/generate-google-maps-api-key/

This is purely an API key issue ??
Did you enter the billing details?
Have a look at the API console and see the errors log, should have some details.

Is this a paid service now? Our website has always had this widget without having to pay. The website crashed over a php issue two months ago, I am building it up again.

Paid as far as we’re concerned – no.
But if you ask Google things have changed. They have lowered the quotas and are forcing people to add billing details. However 95% of sites still don’t pay anything.

I understand how frustrating this is. It’s frustrating for us as well as we can’t do much besides tell you that it’s 100% problem with the API key.

It will sound ridiculous but create a new project in the console and then a new key. Our guide you followed is checked and up to date so make sure not to miss any steps.

    Dear Webfactory,

Thanks! Filling in the billing info did it!
