  • So why was version 1.8.6 released on the 20th? Nothing in Changelog about what’s different so I’m not upgrading from 1.8.5.

95% of Jetpack I can do without so I never bothered with it.

This plugin had not been updated in a couple years and with updates to the stats API not all the features work properly. With thousands of new installs each week this has become an issue. To prevent additional site issues some features were removed that makes the stats connection possible for new installs.

The update message in the repository was:

In order to make it more clear to users that this plugin is no longer maintained the connection notice has been removed, along with the stats menu item. And the readme has been updated

I strongly urge you to update to Jetpack as going forward we cannot guarantee this plugin will continue to function properly. If you do not want to utilize all the features Jetpack provides simply ensure they are disabled.
