First of all let me thank you for an awesome plugin. I added your plugin to the Divi theme. They have a mega menu similar to yours but it does not provide a way to assign themes to the menu so I installed Max Mega Menu.

I am adding a sidebar menu that will contain links to all pages within the section. The primary menu is at the top. The only way I could add a menu to the sidebar is to use the Custom Menu in the Divi theme. When I assign the menu to the sidebar, the menu appears but when I try to add a style to the menu I see the message “This menu is not tagged to a location. Please tag a location to enable the Mega Menu settings.”

I opened a ticket with Divi Support but they say to contact you because they think this is an issue with the plugin. I think the problem is caused because the Divi theme does not tag the custom menu to the sidebar.

What do you think? I am new to WordPress. Do you have a suggestion for solving this problem?

    Hi,

Is the menu that you made tagged to a menu location (underneath the menu)?

    Like this:

If not (or you can’t because you don’t want that menu to assigned to that location), please see step 1 of this tutorial:

    https://www.lanexa.net/2013/03/adding-custom-menu-locations-in-wordpress-themes/

(You can ignore step 2 and 3 as you’ll be using a widget to output the menu)

Then you can tag your menu to the new menu location and use it in the Custom Menu widget.

    Regards,
    Tom

Sorry I forgot to include a link to the development site.

No the menu is not tagged to a menu location because the Divi theme does not provide a menu location in the sidebar. They use something called the Custom Menu widget. But when the Custom Menu Widget is assigned to the sidebar it must not be tagged or your plugin would not be displaying the message.

So the problem as I see it is in the Divi theme but Divi Tech Support says the problem is with your plugin. I am caught in the middle.

Do you have any suggests as to how I can tag the menu so I can assign the style to the menu?

Divi Support is saying the Max Mega Menu plugin is displaying the error message not the Divi theme. I was able to confirm that the message below only occurs in the Mega Menu Plugin. Do you confirm that the message below is being issued by the Max Mega Menu plugin?

This menu is not tagged to a location. Please tag a location to enable the Mega Menu settings.

I am new to WordPress, What must I do to “tag the menu to a location?
