This literally saved my life.

I had to maintain a badly written theme, and enable a client to replace an image inside the theme.

It was impossible to find the image in the PHP code, and I just had the link on the frontend. Luckily, I could replace the image, and stay with the same name, meaning no need to change references in PHP.
