This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?

This is a 404 page, meaning that there’s nothing found at the URL /?p=1. It may be as simple as going to Settings > Permalinks and hitting “save” just to update your permalinks, but if that doesn’t do it, it means the URL of that page has changed.

If it is literally a Page within WordPress, you should be able to go to Pages in the admin, edit this Page, and see the full URL there. Then you’ll know what your home page URL should be.

If it’s not a Page but a page generated by this plugin, then hopefully someone associated with the plugin will be able to help. ??

Thank you for the analysis; it confirms the thoughts I’ve been having about the situation. The page in question was created by my implementation of WP Members (the reason that I am using this Forum). The only change in my site at the time of the occurrence of this event was the 3.8.1 automatic update. I thought that my experience would have been fairly common and that a repair would be readily available.

I’m not certain but I think that the page is generated by a WP Members .php procedure. If that is true then the actual cause could be some WordPress setting or WP Members setting about which I am not aware. I need this page because it is the “entry point” to either login or register to the site. Still stuck without a specific approach to develop a fix.

WP-Members does not create or delete pages and does not have the capacity to do so.

?p=1 indicates that this is a post not a page. Whatever post you had with ID 1 does not appear to exist.

Thank you very much for your input. I had deleted the default initial WordPress Post (I thought the “p” was Page not Post) not knowing that it was integral to the process of displaying the login/registration display.
Your input has empowered me to resolve this issue for our site.

I will be trying to eliminate that dependency for the future.
