• This is ridiculously difficult. I thought I would give WordPress a try after hearing so many positive comments about it but, I have to tell you I am NOT impressed. I find it ridiculously difficult to install and use.

I’m coming from a Macintosh background using Rapid Weaver as my web site design software of choice. Perhaps I need an entirely different mind set in order to use such a tool as WordPress? I have spent the past 5 hours simply trying to install WordPress. Thanks but, no thanks. I believe I will go back to a much more user friendly environment that Rapid Weaver possess on the Macintosh platform.

  • Perhaps a bit of research first would have saved a lot of frustration ??

This main point to keep in mind is that WP does NOT get installed in the normal sense of the word; it is NOT a program; it is a web development framework that requires a running web server and database server to “install” and “run” it.

That said, you CAN set up WP to “run” on your Mac so that you can test it out and develop your site. But in order to do so, you need to have the right environment set up. For the Mac, my fave app for this is MAMP.

Working with WP is quite a change when coming from the static HTML world and there is a learning curve. However, there is a lot of very good info out there and it will be well worth the effort.

Don’t give up so easily ??

    Cheers!
    Lyle
