    The other half would be the cron job required and/or a button to warm the cache on demand.

    Is 1 the lowest rating I can give? I can’t get the stars to go to 0.

    To make sure: I did no use the “pseudocron” wp_cron “feature” from WordPress Core, as it does NOT guarantee a each X -period crawl.

    Setting it up from/by your webhost is the most reliable way of making sure each X -period crawl the crawl actually runs.

    So no: I will not use the default “cron” from WordPress to achive this. Perhaps you may search on cron plugins and add a custom command to call your private cron URL.
