• I like the direction they’ve gone with the features and design, but pretty much anything useful is locked out, asking to upgrade to pro.

I’m talking about some really basic stuff like:

    – Anti-spam,
    – Option for Excerpts instead of full text,
    – Basic layout settings (Yes you need Pro to change things like border, padding and margin)
    – Filters
    – All Submission Forms are locked (admin needs to log in the back end to submit reviews one by one)

Yes I understand that devs need to make money, and I’m all for that; but sometimes you have to take into account that WordPress is an open source platform. The whole point of the WordPress plugin directory is to provide real functional solutions accessible to everyone, and sometimes with the option to pay extra for premium features. This one is simply a demo with the option to pay for the functional versions.

Don’t get me wrong, yes this plugin allows you to write and publish testimonials in full, but as it stands, you can’t even make the most basic example on their demo page using the lite version.

    Hi @sharcs,

Thanks for your feedback and for pointing out that the demo page does have free demos. At the last update of the demo landing page, we missed adding free demo layouts by mistake. We have updated the demo page today.

It seems that you’re disappointed with the plugin’s limited features. I agree that the lite version has limited features but you can create an attractive Testimonial showcase with the features of the lite version without the pro features. You can create a nice Testimonial Slider/Carousel of a single column or multi-columns with the lite version easily.

You talk about a few basic stuff. It would be better if the lite version of the plugin has these features (Anti-spam, excerpt, styling option, filter, Submission Form). We will think about these.

Giving a bad review to a plugin for the limited feature is really unfortunate as it is a lite version. You know that the Pro version is to maintain the developers’ cost so that we can keep continuing contribution to the community.

As the plugin didn’t harm your website, we hope that you’ll consider revising your reviews to inspire us so that we can make it full of advanced features our valuable users want.

    Have a nice day!

I made it very clear on my review, I didn’t give you a bad rating because you submitted a lite version, I gave you a bad rating because your plugin is basically a demo.

You can make a better testimonial page and widget than this by using a page builder.

I’ve changed my rating from 2 to 3 stars because you guys seem interested in what your reviewers are saying and seem happy to take in the community’s opinion when developing your plugin, but my original point still stands:

Again, this is a demo of your pro plugin, it’s not a lite plugin. I’ve never given a bad rating before based on locked features on a plugin and I’ve been using WordPress for over 10 years.

Thank you for taking the time to read my review and reply.
