This is a great plugin, but…

  • The idea for the plugin is great. It’s easy to use, and it has a simple layout.

    However, the biggest flaw is the fact that you need to create one notification for every event. It would be great, if there was a way to change the drop-down to a multi-select or checkboxes.

    It would also be great if we could export these notifications to use on other websites.

    Thanks for leaving a great review.

    With regards to having to set-up one notifications for each event, the reason for this is that originally, the plugin allowed you to just edit the default WordPress notifications. Since then, i’ve added a lot more types of notifications that you can use. The reason why it will never be possible to be able to customise multiple notifications in one go is that each notification has a different set of shortcodes that can be used. For example, the ‘New Category’ notification can only use the category name, category slug and category description as they are the only things that WordPress stores in the database so it wouldn’t be possible to edit that notification along with several others.

    With regards to import/export functionality, this is on the roadmap and should be implemented in a future version of the plugin.

    So far as import/export is concerned, there’s actually no need to add it to the plugin because BNFW uses custom post types.

    Just go to Tools -> Export and choose Notifications to export and then use Tools -> Import -> WordPress to import those notifications to another site.
