This breaks my Theme…

After installation I check “Force SSL Exclusively” and on the page I want to secure check “Secure post”.
It does work in making the page go from an http to https, but in the process it completely destroys the theme that I am using. After being turned on it seems to remove all CSS, the WP admin bar disappears, and the only thing behind the content is the background image for the site.
How do we fix this?
