I installed a third party theme perfectly the first time. I had problems with a developer and had to wipe out everything and reinstall my theme. I deleted the database, all directories from the root directory. I reinstalled WordPress and imported the new theme from the XML file. It uploads the files from Importer… However, I’ve notice that the install is not creating any directories under the themes directory. It is sending up the files to the site, but not visible as a theme? My 2012 theme has all the pages, users and such, but no visible theme. Any Thoughts!

The export process doesn’t export the theme or any of the themes files. The exprt/import process covers the dynamic part sof the site, like pages, posts, menus, settings, etc. You will need to upload the original theme files beofre it will show up.

Thank you for your reply. I sent this to the company who developed the third party theme. According to his instructions, I go to import, to wordpress, assign posts to admin, and check the download and import box. He said that should work. The creator is from Russia and I think I am having a language barrier.

Do you have a better suggestion how I can install the theme so it is visable and can be activated?

Yes. Upload the themes zip file in your admin area, or use FTP to upload the themes files to your server. Then you can activate it and it will be working again.

I know it sounded like a trivial questions. So trivial the developer never mentioned it in the process. I copied everything in the theme folder of the zip expanded file up under the Theme director of the WordPress website… All is well… Thank you!
