Is it possible to use third-party stats tracking redirects URLs for services like Blubrry? I’ve looked thru all of the settings in the latest version of the plugin and can’t find anything. I’ve also searched the support documents but found only information for Seriously Simple Stats.

    Hi Shawn,

No reason I can think of that this wouldn’t work just fine. where are you ultimately hosting the files?

I’m asking on behalf of someone else who’s using the plugin. I believe he’s self-hosting the files, but I’m not 100% sure.

I don’t see any options within the Seriously Simple settings to add a stats redirect URL. Am I missing something? Is the only solution for this to manually prepend the media file URL with the redirect when creating a podcast post with the plugin?

Correct, right now since we provide a free stats service to all users we don’t have a URL prepending option.

What stats are they feeling they’re missing that they’re not getting from the Stats module? We’re working on a new version of the stats module now and would love to hear what we can include to round out that offering.

I believe their intent was to get on Blubrry stats so they could participate in a Blubrry ad campaign. I saw a screenshot from their end that showed there was a Podtrac option but Podtrac redirect URLs are “universal,” so there’s no need for a configurable option there (tho, in my own installation of your plugin, I couldn’t find that Podtrac option). Blubrry stats redirect URLs are unique to each show, so they can’t be implemented with a simple on/off option.

    Hi Shawn

    Thanks for your feedback.

Unfortunately we wouldn’t be able to push the tracking data into Blubrry at the moment, however we’ve got a few exciting plans for Seriously Simple Stats in the next few months.

Please keep an eye out for these new and upcoming features, as we’ll definitely consider integrating into Blubrry too ??

There’s no need to “push” anything to Blubrry. It’s just a matter of making it easy for your users to add Blubrry’s stats redirect URL to their plugin settings. LibSyn, Spreaker, SoundCloud, and other providers that are creating competitive service to Blubrry all allow for third-party stats tracking.

But if you don’t want to do that with your plugin, that is certainly your prerogative.

Hi this is Todd the CEO of Blubrry for years we have allowed podcasters the ability to run the stats of any third within PowerPress. We would hope that your team would also consider allowing that function to be within your plugin.

Blubrry has a long history of providing free podcast metrics for the podcasting space that are IAB compliant and have 12 years of tech behind it, while at the same time allowing podcasters to have a choice. I would hope you would consider the podcasters first. There is plenty of room to compete for customers.

My apologies for the confusion caused on my part, @shawnogordo. I’ve updated the feature request based on your feedback to ensure that the developers consider this for a future version ??

Also, thank you for your feedback on this @geeknewscentral. We’ll definitely be considering this.

Hi @geeknewscentral thanks for the note. Yes as you mentioned I know that Blubrry has had a long history of supporting the podcasting space, in both stats and in WordPress. I hope that we the Seriously Simple Podcasting team are in a similar position through our continual development, support, and improvement of our free podcasting tools.

This feature is on our radar, as are improvements to the existing core functionality of our tools. As you said there’s more than enough room to compete for customers, and we want to first and foremost give WordPress users the best tool available to manage their podcasts.

Thanks again for the message, and hope to stay in touch.

    Craig
