Yes, it’s possible, but it depends on what backup plugin you are using for taking backup of your site. UpdraftPlus (the popular backup plugin for WordPress websites) has a feature that does automatic backups before updates. You might want to install it along with EUM.

So you cannot backup and update with only EUM?
I want to schedule backups and update the plugins only if the backup is succesfully, but to do that I understand you need EUM and UpdraftPlus?
Do you need the premium version of one of those for this?

I’m afraid that I must tell you that EUM can’t do backup on its own, and that’s why EUM needs UpdraftPlus as the only supported backup tool it’s integrated. You do need the premium version of EUM if you want a flexible schedule where you can choose the most convenient time to run automatic updates that fit around you. Do not buy the premium version – I have been a premium user for years and it has never scheduled the updates correctly and currently inactivates plugins after updating them – I have tried to have this sorted since 5th October and still hasn’t been fixed
