@lulu thanks for the help, this is my first site….lol. I went to the link you posted (thanks) but I dont know what it means to wp-config.php file.

As a site owner, you need to learn how to use FTP (or whatever file management application your host provides) to access files on your site. The wp-config.php file can be found in the root of your WordPress install – ie the folder that you installed WordPress into.

If you cannot manage this yourself, perhaps you need to consider hiring someone to carry out the work for you?

if you cant log in
then you have to edit config by accessing it by other means than wordpress admin dashboard

easiest way is to use filezilla (example) client to access files via ftp or ssh protocols
or you can use hosting panel file editor if you have it

Edit wp-config.php << add 2 lines into this file before closing ?> tag

Edit functions.php << this is better way and it will update database from script

Changing the URL directly in the database << easy way too if you havephpmyadmin/adminer access to database

choose ANY 1 way

@esmi Thanks for the information I need to learn, and I thought a forum was a place to learn. To be as knowledgeable as you are, you made a few mistakes and learned from them, and I’m sure people helped you. I’m not sure if your last sentence was intended to be nasty. I may be reading it wrong. If it was not I apologize for you trying to help me out.

I’m sorry if you read my last comment in that way but we really can’t teach you how to use FTP tools like Filezilla or how to use your hosts’ file management application. That’s really beyond the remit of these forums, so all we can do is point you to the right places – as my first link above did.

However, some people prefer not to learn but to employ others to carry out such work for them. Again, all I did was posted officially approved links for you to use if you wanted them.

Again… That last sentence sounds a little nasty….lol.

I really appreciate the advice, I am really trying to learn. I was able to to remedy my issue using @lulu advice. I accessed my FTP and made the changes needed. Have a great night.

Sorry, that”s why I put the “lol” after. I was trying to make things lite, and say thanks you for your help, only good things meant. Thanks again….my new mission is ftp.
