• Hi all,

I was upgrading to 2.5.1 to try and fix my problem with uploading images. In the process, though, I think I accidentally deleted my htaccess file (the text, not the php version).

Can I recreate this file? If so, what do I put in it?

I’ve checked the boards and the codex and haven’t found a general template for what the file should look like.

This is my first time doing any of this, so please be as detailed as possible.

    Thanks.

That’s nonsense. What is a “php version” of the .htaccess?
    .htaccess is the extension!

Try to reset your permalinks. On better hosts WP will be able to create it. If not it will let you know and give you the code for it. Put it in an empty text file. Upload an rename it “.htaccess” That’s it.

Sorry – I misspoke. I do have an .htaccess file. (Told you I was new at this).

However, how do I edit it? I’ve copied it to my computer and opened it in Notepad. Currently it just says:

    # BEGIN WordPress

    # END WordPress

If I’m going to add some content, does it go inside or outside of those lines?

    This was my first advice:
    Try to reset your permalinks.
    Did you?
