Things to Consider on Creating a New Game

    I’m wondering what’s the best way to set up a new game while the current game is still running?

    My Game 01 (the current game) will run until 31 December. Game 02 (the new game) will start immediately after the new year – obviously I need to set up Game 02 before Game 01 has finished.

    All tips and potential pitfalls I may not have considered are gratefully received.

    Hi Simon,

    You can add the new matches in a hidden match type. First create the matchtype and set the visibility setting to false. Then add the matches and assign them to this match type. These matches will not be shown on the website. Once Game 01 has ended, you simply hide the Game 01 matches and show the Game 02 matches.

    If Game 02 needs to start with a clean sheet (everybody starts at 0), you can delete the Game 01 matches (all predictions are then also deleted) and do a calculation of the ranking.

    Another approach is to prepare all matches in a spreadsheet and export to the format that the plugin understands (do an export of current matches to see what the format looks like).

    Thanks for the advice Antoine – I’ve done as you said, and the matches for Game 02 are uploaded and waiting to be unhidden.
