They never mention the 520 Mb import limitation
-
So based on a few Facebook reviews for this plugin, I downloaded it for backing up and restoring my site. WordPress has also plenty of 5-star reviews, which makes you believe that, finally, you’ve found a great and free backup/restore plugin for your site.
So I download the plugin, spend the several minutes required to back up my site and just for the heck of it, I then click on the Restore button. And lo and behold, there is a 520 Mb limitation unless you are prepared to spend $69 for a license. My site is over 1 Gb so unless someone has a very new site, this “free” plugin is pointless because let’s face it, most relatively established sites nowadays have well over 1 Gb of data with all the plugins, media, etc included.
So as of now, uninstalling this click-bait (well install-bait) plugin and sticking with WP Backitup. You do have to manually restore your site, but you can use it totally for free unless you are after the convenience of restoring your site automatically.
I wonder about the thousands of 5-star reviews on this plugin. Are they are al new webmasters with a tiny site or have they all paid the big fee to be able to do a proper restore? Because I went through two pages of reviews and haven’t found one review that mentioned they actually paid for it.
Which makes you wonder…
