You need to make changes in the code of the plugin which would vanish on updating the plugin next time.

Plugin won’t stop updating. The customization would vanish. We will take care of it in the upcoming updates.

Sounds familiar. You seem to have answered the Rutube feature request exactly the same way six months ago, and it still hasn’t been implemented.
