I have Nelio Content version 1.6.17 on 2 websites. Since a few days ago I’ve been getting this error when I go to the “Settings” area of the plugin:

“There was an error while accessing Nelio Content’s API. Please try again later.”

I also can’t get social messages created/shared when publishing new posts.

So I figured I’ll wait a couple of days, but the problem persists. Then I updated the plugin to the latest version on one of my sites, the error persists. I deactivated and reactivated the plugin, and the error persists.

Is Nelio Content having some issue at the moment, or is the problem specific to me?

    Thanks

When I visit the Calendar page I get this:

“There was an error while accessing Nelio Content’s API and your social profiles couldn’t be retrieved. Please try again later.”

I tried removing the plugin completely and reinstalling it, but the problem persists.

I even tried created a sandbox WordPress site here – https://wpsandbox.net/ – and added the Nelio plugin, just to see if maybe it’s a problem with my WordPress version or perhaps PHP related. But still the same error even on the sandbox site.

I’m guess Nelio Content is having some issues at the moment???

Thanks for the heads up, @nino25. We’ve looked at the issue and we can’t reproduce it in any of our development environments or our own website (which is hosted at Siteground). I even tried this in wpsandbox.net and got no error at all…

If you want us to take a closer look at your specific setup, please send us an email at support dot content at nelio software dot com.

Hey David, thanks for the quick reply.

Let me give some more information.

I’m hosted at Hostgator (shared hosting). The plugin last worked surely 2 weeks ago, which is when I made my last post.

My 2 websites are “WordPress 4.9.13” and “WordPress 4.6.1,” running different themes.

Yesterday when I tried fixing the problem, one of my sites had version 1.6.0 of Nelio Content Plugin and the other site had version 1.6.17. Then while trying to fix it I updated the plugin to version Version 1.6.25 on one of the sites.

Yesterday in wpsandbox.net I used “WordPress 4.9.9” to create the site.

I just tried again in wpsandbox.net version “WordPress 5.3.2,” and had the same problem. Then I updated to “WordPress 5.4,” same problem.

Then I tried a wordpress sandbox using this site – https://jurassic.ninja/ – and had the same problem, can’t connect to API.

    BUT…

Then I figured, something that shouldn’t be affecting this or making any difference, but sometimes it’s the unexpectable.

I’ve been using Firefox, so I tried Chrome. Everything works fine in Chrome. How is that possible? How can it work on Chrome but not work on Firefox? It doesn’t make any sense to me. Then again, I’m no expert. Firefox probably updated at some point in the past 2 weeks, and caused this problem. I’m using Firefox 62.0.3 (64-bit).

Well this is nice, I’m happy to have figured it out. However, I use Firefox for all of my browsing needs. Why is Firefox “breaking” Nelio Content? Any ideas?

    Thanks ??

I just tried on an older version of Firefox – 55.0.2 (64-bit) – and having the same issue.

I just tried on Opera (not sure the version, but probably latest version), and it works.

I just tried on the Brave browser, and it works.

Wow, thanks for that detailed review. Well, I’m also a Firefox user myself and I don’t have any issues… but I’m using a newer version (Firefox 74). Maybe older version have issues with SSL certificates? After all, our API uses https…
