    HELP! CF7 stopped completely sending emails since a few days – I systematically get the error message with the red border.

    I read all the FAQs, my “send from” address is valid and existing in the domain and was working before. WP, all other plugins and CF7 are up to date (V5.9). I also tried disabling every other plugin and the theme, still not working…

    I also tried using a plugin (WP mail SMTP), which has no problem sending test emails using wp_mail().

    Finally, I installed WPforms and tried a quick test with a simple form, and it works…

    So, what gives ? How can I troubleshoot this ?

    Ok, I made a number of additional tests:

    • Configured the WP mail SMTP plugin to send using my hosting provider’s SMTP server with the email address they host. It works with the test email, and with WPforms.
    • I tried a vey simple CF7 form with just 3 fields, it fails.

    Sending fails every time with the red border with CF7, but works with everyone else. I have 12 fully styled complex forms in 3 languages, it would be a huge hurdle to change plugins.

    Hi Roger,

    Unfortunately, the developer is not responding and is not monitoring support. I recommend that you downgrade to an older version and do not allow the plugin to update. I lost all text and emails are not coming through with the new version.

    I managed to get it working again, I’m not sure how – it started sending emails again after I fixed a captcha error and moved to captcha V3, perhaps it’s related. I’m blocking auto-update for now, until it’s sorted out.
    I should switch to a better maintained one like WP-forms, but it’s a pity because I love the plugin…
