I am trying to test the checkout on my website and no matter how many times I try to charge my card using Stripe, there is a warning at the top of the checkout page that says “There was an error processing your credit card.” With no other useful information at all.

I spoke to Stripe and they said that it’s a Woocommerce issue because no payments were ever sent to their system, so it’s a flaw that we need to address with Woocommerce. I spoke to Woocommerce and they said that the message is definitely not generated by Woocommerce, and that they guarantee it’s the Stripe plugin.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

There are zero error logs in the Woocommerce Status panel.

We have had an active Stripe account for many years, I’m just trying to test the whole check out process for myself, using my own card, and clearly things are not running smoothly, so the experience is likely just as bad for my customers.

    Hi @joyryde,

It sounds like you have the generic errors option enabled on the Credit Card Settings page. Navigate to the Credit Card Settings page and disable the generic error option so you can get more details about why your card is failing.

Also make sure you have live mode enabled in the API Settings page. If you have test mode enabled, any real credit card that is used will be declined.

    Hi –

Its been in live mode for many years, we process 20 orders per day…

I’ve unchecked the generic errors box and will attempt to place another order now, thank you!

    Hi @joyryde,

My plugin has only been available on www.remarpro.com for a year now.

Let me know what the error message says once you test.

    Kind Regards,

We switched from another plugin to yours a few months back, but have been live for 19 years, and have had Stripe for 3.

    Testing now!

    New error:

“The specified amount is less than the minimum amount allowed. Use a higher amount and try again.”

Is this a setting within your plugin for a minimum charge, or within Stripe?

    Hi @joyryde,

That is a restriction within Stripe. Depending on the currency they have a minimum amount that an order can be. For USD, it’s $0.50.

aah, OK! This is great, I’d rather have complete error than the generic, so that’s fixed. Thank you for your help!
