Few weeks ago, I started to build a new website for new product, but there’s a problem happened and I can not find solutions. The problem is about categorize:

My website has 5 main categories, for example: A,B,C,D,E and A category has sub category A1,A2,A3,A4,A5. and I have created all the categories. Now I started to build the product page. Now I build one product page and this product belongs to A, A1, A3, A5 and I have choose these categories on the product page. Theoretically, this product/page, will appear in A, A1,A3,A5,but now this product appear in A,A1,A2,A3,A4,A5,B,C,D,E all the category. I am sure, I do not choose the irrelevant page when I build the product page.

I use WordPress woocommerce build product and theme is enfold. also the website plugin is all normal like my other website.(I have other website and also use WordPress woocommerce and enfold theme, and use the same plugin, no this issue happened.

So, I do not know why this new website has this problem? Anyone can help? Is this a WordPress bug?

  • Hello,

As a first step, you will want to run a conflict test to determine if something is affecting the site from a plugin/theme.

The best way to do it is to temporarily switch your theme back to Storefront then disable all plugins except for WooCommerce. if the issue is not present at this point you can re-enable the theme and plugins one by one until you find the one that’s causing the conflict.

    More information is below:
    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/

We haven’t heard back from you in a while (I think that at this point you have been able to find a solution), so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.

    Thanks.

    Hello, Igor,

    Thanks for your attention!

To be honest, I am not a technic and I don’t know how to operate it. Can you do me a favor? I don’t know how to do? maybe I provide the login name and password and you can go to my backend to check and test like other plugin support?

If this need to pay,it is also available for me, I only want the issue can be solved in a short time and let me know where goes wrong, so that next time this will not happen again.

    ok, I see.

My problem now is I don’t know how to solve this problem and who can help to solve this problem.

    Hi @ecomarch

I build one product page and this product belongs to A, A1, A3, A5 and I have choose these categories on the product page. Theoretically, this product/page, will appear in A, A1,A3,A5,but now this product appear in A,A1,A2,A3,A4,A5,B,C,D,E all the category.

Have you tried the conflict test suggested earlier by @ihereira?

If you haven’t done so yet, please proceed as follows:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Under incognito mode, check whether the issue persists or not on your site and let us know the result.

If the problem still exists under the default theme and with all plugin turned off, please exemplify the issue, so we can better understand it. Kindly provide us with links to a product’s page, and to the categories’ pages where it wasn’t supposed to be displayed.

    Thanks

Not yet, I will try to do, but I am not a technical, hope I can do it.

How to switch to the theme Storefront? Find the theme at the theme platform of wordpress?

    Hi @ecomarch

I understand you want to know how to install the Storefront theme.

To install and configure your Storefront theme please follow the instructions here: https://woocommerce.com/document/installation-configuration/

Let me know how it goes!

    Hi Daniel,

Thank you and I go to my back end to test and find the issue still exists.

    I describe How I do:

As I said before, when I have few different categories and each of them have different product.

When I create a single product page, and before publish, I categorize to the corresponding category which I already created before. But this action seems don’t work, for example, I categorize product A1 to category A, but product A1 appears in category A,B,C,D,E.

    How I test:
1.change to the storefront theme and then go to see my website, still the same, nothing changed.
    2. I deactivate all the plugins and then activate one, then go to my website to refresh, I continue this action till the last plugin, problem still exist.

I was headache, because I am not a technical. I look for your assistance and thanks for teaching, but I still worried I made a mistake.

My request is: can your technical go to my backend to check and test? as informed before, you only do this way to a premium paid member, but, now I am not currently. I can pay individually to solve this problem, but this is not allowed. So, if I request the technical to help me to check and solve, how can I do? your side can sumbit this request and need anyone’s approval?
I thought this is very easy for any technical, becuase before somem of my plugin has problem and I contact them, they help me by their checking. But, now come to woocommerce, your company seems can not do this way. really makes headache, Please!

    Hi @ecomarch,

When I create a single product page, and before publish, I categorize to the corresponding category which I already created before.

Can you please send us a screenshot of the categories you created?
If possible, send us one of the page you see when creating the new product, but also what you see in Products > Categories.

    I suggest using https://snipboard.io/

My request is: can your technical go to my backend to check and test?

Unfortunately, as we mentioned before, we don’t have the resources to do that, and we do not accept payments in support forums. Hence, I’d suggest visiting the WooCommerce Facebook Community group or the #developers channel of the WooCommerce Community Slack. We’re lucky to have a great community of open-source developers for WooCommerce, and many of our developers hang out there, as well.

    Best regards,

    snipboard.io/LQq1lA.jpg

    I explain above screenshot

first one is the screenshot where I create the product category (you can see one of my category named clamshell containers and the count is ZERO, but you can see another screenshot below, in the category “clamshell containers” there’s a lot product. in fact, all these product not belongs to this category)
second one and third one is where I categorize the single product
forth one is one of my category named “clamshell containers” but all my paper straws product appears in this category.
fifth one is the single product page, you can see ” product meta info” block and you can see this product is in that 4 categories (main and sub category) and only this 4 ,nothing elso. But, in fact, this product was in all of my category.

you can also go to my website to see, single product, I use product meta info to see this product belongs to which category, but seems this is useless, every category has same product.

    Please!

    Thanks!

    Hi @ecomarch,

Thank you so much for the screenshots and the detailed explanation.

It seems that you are setting the correct categories in the product. However, you are using the Avia Builder, an additional layout builder from the theme you’re using Enfold.

As this is a third party theme (and extension), we cannot provide further help, so I strongly recommend you to contact the theme support here:

my question is if the issue is caused by theme, last time your team ask me to change to storefront theme, the issue still exists.

so, this is caused by theme?

    Mirko P.

    (@rainfallnixfig)

    Hi @ecomarch,

If you change the theme to Storefront and disable all plugins (except WooCommerce) do you still see the same issue? Can you confirm what your Clamshell Containers category looks like with this setup?

Ideally, we recommend cloning your site to a staging environment. You can do this using the free WP Staging plugin. Then, send us the system status from your staging site: you will find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

    Thanks.

    @rainfallnixfig

Your first question, yes. no matter storefront or enfold, the same issue.

So, I ask are you sure this is the problem caused by enfold?

My other sites also use enfold, but all works normal.

Your second was a headache for me, how to clone my site? if I do in this way, you can find the problem?
