I am using the Auth0 Login plugin with wordpress, and logging into enterprise office 365. I have been using this combination for at least the past year with no issues – but last week started receiving an error when attempting to login. The error states “There was a problem with your log in failed to obtain access token”. I backed up the site and removed all plugins except Auth0 login, and that didn’t help the issue. So I deleted the auth0 plugin and started again from scratch – creating a new client in the dashboard and everything. Still getting the same error. To clarify – I am taken to the office 365 sign in page, and get the error once I enter my credentials and am supposed to be redirected to my site.

  • Tyler,

Again, apologies for the trouble here. A few questions for you to help us figure this out:

    – What version of the plugin? What version of WordPress?
    – Did this start happening after the latest update of the plugin?
    – Can you look at your plugin error logs right after this failed login and let me know if there’s anything relevant there?
    – Can you also look at your Auth0 logs to see if there’s anything there as well?
    – The error message you mention here, is that exactly the one you’re seeing? If not, can you copy paste that here? I’m not seeing your exact error message in the plugin anywhere.

We’re working on a release right now to fix a few issues that surfaced with new tenants (AKA new accounts in Auth0) but that’s probably not affecting you. Still, we’ll have a beta of the latest ready here in a couple of days that might help with this issue.

Thanks for the report and hope we can get this figured out.

    Plugin version – 3.4.0
    Wordpress version – 4.9.2
It started before the latest update, around three months ago
The plugin logs give the same error: Failed Login failed to obtain access token 18 hours ago bsimail-com

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin, set it up with azure ad again following the instructions, I’ve created new tenants and started from scratch but still the same error.

It looks like that error message is coming from Office 365, that text is not something our plugin generates.

Can you tell me what is listed under “Section” in the error log for that?
Can you check your Auth0 Log as well and see if there’s anything relevant there?
Are there logs on the Office 365 side you can look at?

    Thanks!

    Tyler,

I just came across this on our docs site, looks like it was posted about 3 months ago. Is this a possible fix?

@tylerc515 – Just checking back in here to see if the document above was helpful. I’m going to mark this as resolved but feel free to re-open if needed.
