• Hi folks this is one of my favorite plugin and I used on a lot of my clients sites. However there seems to be a bug connected to getting it work with the latest version of WordPress 4.0. It stops you from moving other widgets or edit existing widgets this is a big bug. I also don’t think its just a particular theme conflict because I had this problem with a couple different themes today. However I haven’t tried the plugin on a fresh install of WordPress 4.0 yet.

    Has anybody had similar problems?

  • yes, since WP 4.0 it seems that this widget, even when not used in a post, alters the content in some way. For example captions of images are being removed or lets say when you set a caption in the visual editor by using the overlay button for editing images, the caption you just set doesnt appear. the newly set captions appears in the visual tab, shown direclty under below the image, right where you expect it to be, but not in the text tab and when you preview or save the post, theres no caption present.
so i guess that the content from visual tab is not being morphed into text/html correctly or the caption tag is stripped.

i tested some lines in the php code which may alter the content by adding comment slashes but with no success. i dont have a good n clear view of wp code yet so i couldn’t determine responsible code section.

I am also experience the problem with captions not saving and/or being removed since the upgrade to wordpress 4.0. When I disable Black Studio TinyMCE Widget, I am able to save captions again. This is when working within the default WordPress editor.

I believe that your problem is caused by a conflict with another plugin. Please try to disable other plugins, especially the ones that provide additional widgets. Also check our FAQ for further information.

The problem on image captions on WordPress 4.0 is confirmed and it has been fixed on version 1.4.7. Please update.
By the way, our plugin does not affect the editor in posts/pages unless you are using a 3rd party plugin which allows to put widgets inside a page (i.e. Page Builder, WP Page widgets, …).

P.s. We are actually focused on the new, totally revamped 2.0 version, which will be released soon.

Hi Marco thanks for coming back with some advice. I have turned of all the over plugins and I still had the same problem. However I will try doing what you suggest again on my clients staging site.

If I still have no joy I post again and I won’t upgrade until your new version is released. I just want to thank you for developing this plugin my clients just love it. in someways don’t really understand why Automatic don’t provide this basic functionality inbuilt into the core.

omg great news there and you make me feel bad for disturbing you ??

edit: will wait for your new version – 1.4.7 didnt help. keep focusing on 2.awesome.0, cheers

edit: thats weird, when i disable your plugin the caption problem is solved – and when i disable page-builder (leaving your plugin enabled) it solves it too.

so disabling either tinymce widget or page-builder helps at this moment

The captions issues has been definitely fixed on version 1.4.8.

As for the problem reported by @jonathandenwood I would suggest to take a look to your browser javascript console.
