• I am tired of Dreamhost with almost no customer service. My site has been down on and off for some days now.
Well, So I find a new host, inmotion and I start the move.
First the Database then the files. After copying the files I should do some changes on the wp_config.php file. But there is non. I only find a wp_config_sample.php file
How can my site run without it?
    Thanks for any help.

I found it a changed it. Let you know if that is helping. Also, what do you think about VPS hosting? Would that help?

It’s on DreamHost in your panel (for the next guy down the line).

A VPS might help, but I don’t think your site is big enough to need it. If you wanted to ask to be moved to a different server, and stay on shared, you can do that in your ticket (and if you do that, put in a link to this thread and say you talked to me, so if anyone has questions, they know to grab me).

I changed to 5.3.x (fast CGI). It loads faster right now. It still takes about 3-5 seconds to load or save a page. But that might change again. The speed did fluctuate a lot.

We’re working on fixing this on our end. I asked one of our support leads to look into this for you, and I’m pretty confident we can straighten it out ??

That would be something. I almost don’t have any hair anymore…I pulled it all out.

FYI, we have a server expert look into this as of the time I went home yesterday. Part of the slowness is because migrations are ongoing.

The Admin Panel is still stunningly slow. Not always the same speed, but not tempting to stay with Dreamhost.

In part, this really is because we’re still moving people between servers, with the Virginia Data Center. I double checked that your DB and main domain are in the same datacenter, to make sure latency isn’t at issue.

But I can tell you that our stability team is looking into your server. I wish we could magically wave a wand to fix that for you ??
