    Hello,

I tested on 2 WPMU sites and I get no IPs showing up at network users. There is an IP column but in one case this is empty and at the other one it shows 0.

Of course, I tested with new users registering after I installed the plugin.

I’m I missing something, are there any settings for the plugin?

    Thanks.

A 0 implies that you have a plugin conflict.

What other plugins are you running? I double checked on a clean site and it works.

Suspect #1 would be some settings at iThemes security but don’t know which ones.

I tested at 2 installations of the same site. The first one is the full and public install and there I get empty columns for IP, and the second one is dev installation with minimum plugins active and there I get 0 in columns.

Both are running iThemes Security, your own Join My MU, and some others that don’t seem to be related.

UPDATE: de-activated iThemes Security completely but issue remains the same.

I’ll have a test with iThemes security tomorrow then.

Thanks but this won’t be needed, as stated above I de-activated iThemes and the issue is still the same. Problem is somewhere else…

Well then. What are the OTHER plugins? ?? The “some others that don’t seem to be related.”

Some other plugins do pretty bizarre things. It works on a clean site, and I have never gotten a 0, so there’s something telling the system either than the IP is a 0 or that the column is a 0.

OK, thanks anyway but I don’t see the point enumerating here the plugins running on this site because it is based on a set of 2 themes and 5 related plugins – and some of them in relation with user registrations, so I believe there is a compatibility issue somewhere with this plugin.

If you are interested in exploring this further I may provide admin access to the test site, otherwise I give up and will try to find another solution.

    Many thanks for your feedback!

That’s not really how we do support here in the forums.

If you’re willing to list two themes and five plugins, I’m willing to spin up a test site on my VVV instance and see if I can reproduce it in a controlled environment where I don’t have to worry if I crash anything or munge data.

Unless you’ve hired me and we have a contract, I’m not touching your personal site. I’m a random internet stranger. You should never trust me with the keys to your site.

I AM interested in exploring this further.

You seem not to be interested in telling me what themes and plugins you’re using, while at the same time totally okay with handing over admin access to your site to a stranger. Which is very odd from my perspective. I’m offering you the safe, sane, route for debugging.

Yes, I know that and fully agree with you.

Problem is, in that particular case, the installation is done with a premium package+plugins suite that you can’t access the same way you would with a free theme or plugin.

I’m fully interested in providing any needed details about this package but you won’t be able to get the files unless you have access to this testing site.

That’s the reason why we have a test/dev/debug installation (clone of the original one) that doesn’t have any significant data in it and allows us to give access to third party for testing purposes. There is nothing to worry about there as we may re-clone it back to its original state when something happens.

This is the only way we found in order to deal with situations such as this one, but I’m open to other solutions if you let me know how to proceed.

    Thanks again.

See now that is a weird, unique, setup. And something that would have been useful to know.

You can do one thing on that demo without needing me, and that’s the basic plugin debugging.

Turn off ALL the other plugins. See if it works.

The real problem is I don’t need access to the site, I need to see the code and start scanning it for function clashes. You might be able to find out if there’s one if you turn on WP_DEBUG

    (@dsl225)

Thanks but the site won’t run without those plugins.
So I don’t see what and how to test without plugins.
Furthermore, I can’t see what to test with WP_DEBUG set to true.
I just tested, nothing special happens.

Furthermore, I can’t see what to test with WP_DEBUG set to true.

The test is “Do you see any error messages?” and in your case, the answer is no. I was hoping there would be an error message when you looked at the user list that would show you there was a conflict.

With debug set to true, do any errors show up when you add a new user?

Also what do you mean ‘the site won’t run’?

If the site literally breaks when you disable all the other plugins, that’s a bigger problem. What I’m saying is on your DEV site, the test one, you turn ’em off to go to a basic site.

This is, by the way, how you debug all potential plugin conflicts in WP ?? You should get used to it and get some practice in. You’re already ahead of the game by actually HAVING a dev environment.

Thanks a lot for your help but I give up.
    Not interested in testing further.
This plugin simply doesn’t work with my site and I’ll find another solution.

Speaking as someone with a lot of experience with multisite and plugins, you’re going to have to get used to being asked to try things and experiment, especially considering your setup.

Logging in to people’s sites to debug and fix things is the purview of hired dev help for most people.
