    Hi

In the admin panel there is no Editor link in the menu under the Appearance link.

I would like to activate the child theme but am at a loss of how to proceed.

Would very much appreciate your help.

    Best regards
    Cecilia

  • Open wp-config.php in an editor and look for the following line: define('DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT', true); and change this to define('DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT', false);. Save the file. Go to admin and refresh the page. You should now be able to see the Editor menu under Appearance tab.

NB: In case you are working with multisite:
“The appearance editor is actually disabled in Multisite by default. This is because themes are shared network wide so any changes made to a theme file will be changed in all sites.”

    Hope this helps.

I’m afraid I have to bother you again.

Being in the Editor, and saving the style.css, the browser page turns all white instead of remaining on the actual page. I have to go back in the history in order to return to the Editor mood. So it seems like something still is wrong. I have checked the status of the modified and saved files in the ftp-server, and the files have been saved. So that is not the problem.

I hope there is something I can do about this, because it feels like something might go wrong in the long turn.

Something has gone seriously wrong, I think. I can no longer log in to the admin panel (I’m checking with another browser before logging out from the present).

Now, I have been thrown out from the website admin panel and accused of cheating when trying to login. Would very much appreciate your prompt help.

    Many thanks in advance.

The problem is solved now. I did everything all over again from a backup version and now it seems to work fine.

    Thanks and bye!

Very hard to understand what went wrong. But first thing you can do is to revert to original settings in wp-config.php with true and then try to log back into the admin. If you are able to log back in and everything gets back to normal then I think you should contact your hosting provider. for further assistance.

    Cool!
