Version 2.3.2 works perfectly, but after upgrading to 3.0, a whole bunch of issues started to appear – yes, you heard it right, a whole bunch of issues. This occurs in multisite setups:

/wp-content/plugins/simply-static-pro/src/integrations/class-ssp-multisite.php on line 124 Using the latest version 3.0.2+1.4.1pro.

I applied the zh_TW.mo translation language pack, but it had no effect at all. I’m not sure if this is related to AJAX. In version 2.3.2, the translation worked perfectly.

I set it to https://, but it automatically switches to https:// no matter what I do, and I can’t change it back.

I’m not sure if it’s just me, but overall, it’s not as good as version 2.3.2. I really liked the UI in 2.3.2 – it felt perfect, and the user experience was great.

Maybe it’s because I don’t like AJAX. I felt the previous UI in version 2.3.2 was more comfortable, and the user experience was fantastic.

In the sidebar, you can click on “generate” and “settings,” which feels a bit odd, as I noticed these options already exist in the plugin section. Now, they also appear in the WordPress sidebar.

Additionally, after updating to version 3.0, the multisite settings have become problematic, and I can’t set them individually anymore. Overall, it’s been an unpleasant experience; version 2.3.2 felt perfectly fine to me.

If I use version 2.3.2+1.4.1pro, my entire website will encounter errors. I have to delete 1.4.1pro via SFTP; otherwise, my website becomes inaccessible. I cannot change the pro version on my own, and I feel exhausted. Suddenly, I even thought about replacing WordPress because I don’t want to use this CMS anymore. However, reality is harsh; I really like WordPress’s extensibility, but, on the other hand, each update brings problems along with it.

A long time ago, I saw a page on your official website that listed compatible plugins, but it disappeared later. I’m referring to the comprehensive compatibility page, not the simplified one.

I’ve been using Elementor+Simply Static Pro, but after a certain update, I noticed that I have to generate more pages than before, and I’m not sure why. This has made me reluctant to continue using Elementor.

If you have better options, such as an absolutely compatible page editor or recommended themes that are 100% compatible, please let me know.

I’m looking for a perfect match with Simply Static to achieve the utmost speed performance.

    Hey @qabbbaaa357,

    thanks for your report.

I’m answering your questions step by step:

    Translation:

Providing just the translation file isn’t enough if you want to translate the admin UI of Simply Static – you will need an JSON file as well (that’s how all of the new WP features are translated).

Thankfully, that’s quite easy, add your po file here and download the JSON file: https://www.wpeform.io/tools/make-po-to-json/

It would be nice if you could provide the translation to us, as we always want to improve Simply Static for other languages.

    Scheme:

That’s actually a bug that is going to be fixed today (Fix is there, release is coming).

    Ajax:

If you don’t like Ajax, you wouldn’t want all versions of Simply Static prior to 3.0. There was Ajax everywhere.

Simply Static 3.0 removed everything regarding Ajax and now uses React and the WP Rest API instead.

The old UI was horrible, and absolutely nothing we could continue (it was created almost seven years ago). Not sure there was even something like a UX there ??

    Generate and Settings in sidebar:

These are just quick links to make the transition from 2.x to 3.x easier. People are familiar with these submenu entries and we bring them to the correct position within the new settings screens.

I know it’s quite different from the old way we handled things, but for Simply Static to grow (regarding users and new features), it was an unavoidable step.

Simply Static Pro 1.4 and up:

That’s right. Simply Static Pro 1.4 and up requires Simply Static 3 and up.
There is no way to update just one of them at that point (that’s why there is a prominent red notification once you have only updated one of them).

    Compatible Plugins:

Oh, it’s still there, but I moved it to the docs: https://simplystatic.com/docs/compatible-plugins/

We will also launch a new version (with search and filter functionality and a lot more supported plugins) later this year.

    Elementor:

That’s true, because of the changes within the last couple of updates within Elementor, we had to adjust our crawler accordingly.

Now, we also parse and download:

    • minfied styles and scripts from Elementor
    • Lottie Files and video files from Elementor
    • Additional assets that are lazy-loaded from Elementor

This ultimately increases the number of files we need to fetch if Elementor is used.

I would say we have the best integration with Elementor when it comes to a pagebuilder.

We also take extra care of the block editor (as it ships with WordPress), but in terms of third-party pagebuilders – Elementor should be the way to go with Simply Static.
