• WordPress 6.3
    BuddyPress 12.2.0
    BuddyPress Docs 2.2.1

Users with the “contributor” and “subscriber” roles cannot view documents in a group even though they belong to it.

When entering the “Documents” tab of the group, only this message appears: There are no docs for this view.

The only user who can see the group’s documents is the one with the “administrator” role.

This did not happen in WordPress version 5.x.x. It started happening as soon as WordPress was updated to version 6.3

Thanks for the report. I’m unsure how a WP update itself would cause this to happen. Did you update other plugins at the same time that you updated WP?

You mentioned that certain items are not visible in the Documents tab. What happens if you try loading the URL of a specific Doc with a non-administrator account?

Hi Boone, thanks for your answer.

The problem appeared right after upgrading WordPress 5.9.3 to 6.3. I have not updated any plugin.

I did the test you suggested and the following happens:

When I enter a group route like this: https://buddypress-example.com/groups/example-group/documents/

Only the user with administrator role can see the list of documents, other group members with lesser roles see the message “There are no docs for this view”.

Then I chose one of the documents from the list and went to its details: https://buddypress-example.com/documents/example-document

In this case, both administrators and other members of the group could see its content.

Then apparently it is something related to the “documents” view of the group that in its query decides not to show the list to certain roles. Even if individually they can be accessed.
