One of my sites that uses AdRotate recently got a prompt says ‘There are 2 active ad(s) with configuration errors. Solve this!’ Solve what? My ads haven’t expired and I haven’t changed anything since I placed them, and they were fine all this time. Of the 3 ads I currently have up, 2 supposedly have this config errors, but no mention of which two they are. So I’m basically guessing. Why is this prompt coming up?

Click “re-evaluate all ads” in AdRotate settings to re-test all ads.
If an advert is wrongly set to have an error that will fix it, too.

If no advert is highlighted yellow then there is no known issue to any advert and the status cache probably just needs updating.

I have the same problem. It used to be OK before upgrade. Now it reads:

Your chosen banner image does not have the right name. Check the responsive description and try again.

But images names are selected from folder so they cannot be wrong.

I did “re-evaluate all ads” to no avail.

Ther is no advert marked yellow but all show the same error (as above) when edited.

What do you mean by “status cache probably just needs updating”?

I just upgraded to 3.11.3 and I’m still experiencing the issue. So I clicked Revaluate all ads. Got the same ‘There are 2 active ad(s) with configuration errors. Solve this!’ message with still no idea what the errors are. There are two ads that say they have config errors, but no explanation as to what those errors are. I go look and I can’t find an error. It would great it if you have an error and here it is! Instead, I’m just guessing.

I have mine solved. Have you checked “responsive” advert? I bet you had.
In my case it was banner naming convention. If you want it responsive, it has to follow strict rules. Read this manual

Instead of name your-advert-name.jpg it is enough to name it like your-advert-name.full.jpg

It solves the problem.

Yes, responsive is checked as I went the ads to scale for mobile. I tried .fill but it didn’t work. Nor did uploading it via the WP uploader.

Read manual carefully.. it reads:

The adverts should be kept in the banners folder (so not the WordPress Media Manager) and should have the size in their name.

For banners folder follow “wp-content/banners/”. You can use “Manage media” page of AdRotate if you have Pro version. I don’t so I use FTP to upload banners to this folder. You are not able to do it using WP media manager.

I don’t have Pro either. So I turned off responsive and all my banners aren’t displaying yellow anymore. However, I’m still getting the same error about config errors even though I cleared my browser cache (WP Hyper Cache) and refreshed and it’s still coming up. Maybe a cron job is in order?

No, you have to use two buttons inside AdRotate settings.

I’m not sure about their English names but one is called “re-evaluate all ads” and another one is the one above it. Press them and confirm action. (use the third one as well ?? It worked for me on another site either.

I updated today and all of my ads now have configuration errors when they were previously working. I’ve tried what you’ve listed above but nothing has helped and none of the ads are displaying…

There seems to be a new “widgets” feature that was not there before… But it won’t let you do anything with it… Any suggestions?

I just upgrade AdRotate on another site and immediately the error came up again! There’s no error though. This is getting ridiculous.

I think clicking the Optimize Database did it. Errors seem to be gone. At least on one site.

It seems that many people have the responsive option active while not actually using it.
In the last update new error notices got added to counter that.

As pointed out by @tom you need to name the files correctly for it to work.
AdRotate doesn’t scale images – So if that’s what you had when responsive “worked”, you didn’t use the responsive feature of AdRotate (even though it may have been enabled).

Unchecking this setting may “fix” the advert.
Clicking “Re-evaluate all ads” in AdRotate settings will recheck all ads against various conditions and reset the status cache.
If they’re still marked yellow there is something wrong with the advert. Edit/open the advert to see what specifically.

Hi,

I’m using AdRotate for displaying Images with the adcode e.g.:

<span style=”font-size: xx-small;”>By Taxiarchos228 (Own work) [FAL], via Wikimedia Commons

now i have the error “There are 117 active ad(s) with configuration errors. Solve this!”

The Images are note beeing shown in my posts anymore. This is a big problem. How can i fix this problem?

Thank you an kind regards from germany

Lars
