Hello,

We use the google font Roboto with your theme.

When using italic (ex. with or ), the characters become italic and bold.

It used to work correctly with a previous release of your theme.

I took a look at the roboto variant definition in your code, and here what it contains:

{"id":"100","name":"Ultra-Light 100"},
{"id":"300","name":"Book 300"},
{"id":"400","name":"Normal 400"},
{"id":"500","name":"Medium 500"},
{"id":"700","name":"Bold 700"},
{"id":"900","name":"Ultra-Bold 900"},
{"id":"900italic","name":"Ultra-Bold 900 Italic"}

The italic variants are missing for the following weights:

• Thin 100 Italic
• Light 300 Italic
• Normal 400 Italic
• Medium 500 Italic
• Bold 700 Italic

Thank you.

Thank you !

Hi,

I notice that there has been a theme update since this post, but am still having issues with all content designated as italics being shown as bold + italics.
Could you please let me know how to fix this?

Thanks

Can you post a link?

The client doesn’t want any bold+italics font on the website, so there is none there at the moment, but the website can be viewed here
Specifically we are trying to add italics to some font in a sidebar (if that makes a difference).

Thanks

I notice you are using the font-family: Ubuntu.
In your theme options do you have any of the typography to be using Ubuntu italicized?
because if you don’t have it selected the the theme won’t load it. So you will need to load the italicized font from google to use it.

I changed the body font from Book 300 to Normal 400 in the theme options, then went and made the font italics. I then went back into the theme and changed it back to Book 300 – and the italic font has stayed un-bold.
Don’t quite get what happened, but it appears to be OK now.
Thanks

Glad it worked out.
