    Hello
I noticed a theme I installed recently is running at wordpress version 4.6 while my wordpress has automatically been updated to 4.8. Can this cause problems with my customisation page?

  • What do you mean that your theme is “running at wordpress version 4.6”. That’s not something themes do. Where did you get the 4.6 from?

I got the theme from Themeforest. And on their page, it shows WordPress Version 4.6 and 4.5 but no 4.8 like on my WordPress dashboard powered by Site Ground. So i wonder if this caused any issues with the theme functioning normally.

The theme’s developer probably just hasn’t gotten around to testing the theme in 4.7 or 4.8, or they might have but just not updated the description to indicate this.

WordPress is pretty good about backwards compatibility, so it’s not super likely that anything will go wrong, but if you’re concerned you’d need to contact the theme’s developer and ask if the theme supports 4.8, and check with them before updating WordPress in future.

Thanks Jacob. Ive been scratching my head as to why the customizer page wont load normally on my dashboard despite trying everything possible. Other themes work pretty good but that one. Havent really seen any comments from other users either

So you are actually experiencing issues? It is theoretically possible that your theme doesn’t work with 4.8, but you would need to contact the theme’s developer to resolve the issue.
