• I had several genesis themes installed and today they have dissapeared from the WP admin, yet the theme I was running is still running. There is no way they were deleted, so how is this possible, and what can I do..? I only have an XML back-up as I am quite new to all this. Thanks a lot!

Are they still out there on the server?

Honestly, WordPress itself can’t remove them unless you have a rogue plugin, or did it intentionally.

FYI, backups should be done of the database as well as the files/folders on your server. Among other things, the files are where your uploaded files are located.

The theme that is running is still on the server. None of the others are though.

My WP may have been hacked. I am only using common plugins. Hmmm.

I am now learning to back-up via my FTP and then I guess will re-install the theme I am using and hit activate. I just hope it won’t undo all the work I have done….GOD this is slow learning. I thought this was meant to be easy..??? NO.

Easy compared to … what, exactly? Automatic is easier than a stick shift for many people but I find them equally easy. It’s all about what you start knowing ?? don’t worry, though. Just as you learned to drive, you will learn all this. Just takes time.

If the themes are missing off the server then there is your problem. They MUST exist in the wp-content/themes folder. Ask your host if they have a backup from, say, last week so you can restore from there.
