Themes and plugins are gone

    I started out this evening attempting to change the permissions for my theme’s files — I must’ve pushed some button I wasn’t supposed to while using SmartFTP, because all of a sudden I got an error. I decided to reinstall the WP files (everything but wp-content). That seemed to work, I wrote and published a post, and then went back to change the permissions for my theme’s files. It seemed to work, but when I went to select my about.php, all I got was a blank page. I decided to blow all the WP files as I just did last week for the most recent upgrade. There’s a folder in my wp-content folder called cache, and I can delete everything but it, and I think it’s causing problems. I’ve done a fresh install, and NONE of the themes are showing up, and none of my plugins are there. Not even the defaults.

    I’ve cleared my browser cache, but I don’t know what else to do. Help?

  • The feed is working so I am guessing it has something to do with the theme. Try to upload the default theme and try to see if you can enable it.

    The themes and plugins are all in the right folders, but they don’t show up in the dashboard, and I can’t enable them. I even tried uploading a brand new copy of the theme I use (bluebird, 3 column), and it doesn’t show up.

    Have you set the right permission for WordPress to READ the wp-content and /themes folder?

    I said upload the DEFAULT THEME.

    The default theme is already loaded. I have the 2 that come with the installation (classic and default), and the bluebird.

    Where do I set permissions, and what permissions do I need to set? I’ve never had to do that before — only changed permissions so that I could change the stylesheet and other templates myself.
