• I know someone must have bluehost. I use them and did the fantastico bit to install wordpress and now I want to change the theme. I’ve read I need to FTP the file up. Question though. I created my page with frontpage 2003. I just fixed a HUGE problem that bluehost claims was caused because of uploading the site via FTP. They said I need to commit to one form of uploading.. either frontpage sharepoint or FTP. Can I upload this without problems? If so, who would you suggest and do I just upload it to the actual page or where? https://www.drandcrew.com/rosieblog ?

  • Frontpage is a ‘bad thing’ regardless ??

    Use a real FTP client – https://filezilla.sourceforge.net

What I do not understand is that you say you have created a ‘page’ to change your theme – a theme usually consists on a number of files. Can I suggest you take a look at Codex ?

I’m sorry.. I created my website with Frontpage 2003. I have read the codex but what gets me is it mentions a folder. Bluehost auto installed this program and I don’t see that folder anywhere. I’m going to go and install the link you sent and will use that but I still don’t know where to upload the files to.. blah.

The thing with Frontpage is it uses these weird bot tags that don’t do what they are supposed to unless they are uploaded through Frontpage itself.

drandcrew, is it a WordPress them you designed with Frontpage or a separate website? I’m a little confused as creating a WordPress theme in Frontpage would be quite difficult to do.

Hi.. no, let me explain a little clearer. I created my page via Frontpage 2003. I then uploaded it to Bluehost.. which is who hosts my site. From there, they have a function called Fantastico where you can download several different things into your site.. guestbooks, blogs, shopping carts, discussion forums etc. I downloaded the wordpress program. So, one of my pages is now a wordpress blog (not created with Frontpage). I, however, can’t stand the basic theme. So, I downloaded someones theme called ‘gentle calm’. I did just upload it via the filezilla and I found the theme folder, changed the last part to ‘gentlecalm’ but when I went back into my page and presentation, it isn’t showing it… blah! The page it is on is https://www.drandcrew.com/rosiesblog

I created my webpage via Frontpage.. correction

You need to unzip the file on your computer first and then upload the directory it creates into the themes directory, note you need to upload the directory itself with all the files in it.
