[Theme: zeeFocus] Media File Uploads
-
Hi All.
Not really sure if my question is specific to the theme I am using, but am hoping somebody can help me please.
I’ve recently amended the settings for media uploads so files are no longer organised into folders by month and year (by de-selecting the tick box in Settings/Media). This seems to works fine – images are visible in my media library and are feeding through to posts and pages.
The problem is when I look at the uploads folder in my FTP application, it seems that WordPress is somehow automatically generating 4 additional files for each original image, but in various dimensions. It only seems to be happening with Featured Images and I’m guessing might have something to do with support for thumbnails (?), but is there a way to stop this from happening?
I’ve already created a class for handling thumbnails in my style.css file, and it seems like an unnecessary duplication which is going to become really confusing especially if it happens each time I upload a file for Featured Images. Should I just manually delete the additional files in FTP? Grateful for any advice please.
Thanks.
