I’m trying to update from 1.09 to 1.12 which results in an error 500. This is what my log tells me at the moment of the upgrade attempt:

    [Mon Aug 04 12:02:46 2014] [warn] [client 83.236.xxx.xxx] mod_fcgid: read data timeout in 40 seconds, referer: https://FQDN/wp-admin/update-core.php?action=do-theme-upgrade
    [Mon Aug 04 12:02:46 2014] [warn] [client 83.236.xxx.xxx] (110)Connection timed out: mod_fcgid: ap_pass_brigade failed in handle_request_ipc function, referer: https://FQDN/wp-admin/update-core.php?action=do-theme-upgrade

I already did some research regarding this specific error. Most of the threads out there advise to increase FCGI specific limits which I already tried without any success.

I’m running several other WordPress instances on the same vServer without any problems, this only happens when I try to upgrade this theme. The website itself performs nicely, I can’t see any other bottlenecks here.

    Any advise is appreciated.

    Hi ulfklose,

I can’t see a reason for why 500 errors should be related to the contents in the theme itself (esp. since the update is transfered to the server as a .zip file). I would guess that it’s due to some issue either on the www.remarpro.com end or on your server.

Either way, downloading the latest version of the theme as a zip and installing it manually would do the trick. Hopefully, the problem won’t reappear when the next Baskerville update is released.

    Hi Anders,

thanks for your reply. I will try replacing the files directly on the server.
