Theme Typography won't show

    Hi,

    I’ve been working on a new site using the Tesseract theme and I can’t get the easy google fonts plugin to show my manually added theme typography.

    https://b-thinking.nl/wp/ this is the (under construction) website URL.

    I’ve been following these steps:

    Go to settings > google fonts
    Click Create a New Google Font
    Name it Home Headline
    Click Create Google Font
    Under Add CSS Selector type .home-headline
    Click create a new font control
    Go to your homepage and roll over your name and click customize
    Click Typography > Theme Typography

    However, after I’ve created the Google Font Controls they will not show up. In fact the whole button ‘Theme Typography’ won’t show up.

    What am I doing wrong? I’ve tried re-installing the plugin but nothing seems to work.

  • Hi I am not sure I understand what you are saying about code tyler inserted into his tesseract Theme but I am having that same problem that I cant get the headline or sub headline to respond to anything I put into the font settings, nothing is working can anyone help ?

    Ok guys your missing most likely a step Tyler did not show you. To use Google fonts you need a google api key. It simple google: google api key for google fonts. Its quick and simple. Once you get your api key go to the advance settings in google fonts and you’ll see a place to enter your google api key. Once you do that it will work 99.9% of the time.

    I also am having this problem. The theme typography shows the font controls I created. But there is no response to changes in any of the controls in the customizer. The default typography works fine. I have tried to add a . dot before the CSS selector and without. No difference. The site is macbanking.com. I have read contradictions over whether I need an api key or not. Help!

    I have the same problem. I read all this post but I can’t solve the problem. what is google api key and how do you add it. Sorry if my question sound stupit.

    Dear Sunny,

    After following various time-consuming instructions here, your suggestion of “Theme typography only shows up once you have created a new custom font control for your theme (by going to Settings > Google Fonts). Hope that helps. Cheers” made the theme typography miraculously appear.

    I am also building a Tesserat Theme and it is looking great…however it is not showing as a responsive website on a smartphone device??
    By the way, Tyler Moore is my hero. I just love how he teaches and he was the reason I went through school and got my degree in Web Design Technology.
