[Theme: TwentyEleven] How to make posts appear in summary rather than full view?

In the Dashboard go to Settings->Reading…about the 4th option from the top should be, if you want to show the full version or an excerpt ??

No. That’s for your RSS feed – not your site’s post display.

No! Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. Create a child theme for your changes.

Why don’t you use “more” tab for your post……

Just place <!–more–> and it’s done….. If i got your problem rightly
