Does the menu work correctly on the unedited (parent) twentytwelve version on your site? It looks like you’ve made some changes to the CSS for the navigation.

If that’s not the problem, try deactivating your plugins to see if one might be causing that problem.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I’ve made quite a few CSS changes and I tried commenting everything concerning navigation out in my child-theme and re-installed WP without any luck. No one else who’ve had this problem?

You need to check whether the issue persists on the theme’s original demo website. If it doesn’t, have you tried deactivating plugins as suggested by WPyogi? If yes, resolve your unclosed errors from the W3C Validator .

Hi, thanks for the replies. I fixed the validation issues (except the wp specific ones) and tried it on the unedited twenty twelve theme and the problem persists. The only difference was that the button that appears instead of the menu was actually clickable and showed the menu items when clicked.

That’s how it is supposed to work – that’s the normal, correct functioning.

Ok, cheers for making that clear WPyogi. Is this documented anywhere?

Another question: is there a way of getting round this “feature”? I would prefer to display the menu as it displays on desktops/laptops. I tried removing <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width" /> from header.php which rendered the menu as text on mobile devices, the only problem was that they were not links.

There have been some other threads on this question – I don’t have any first-hand knowledge of whether these work, but you might look at these:

Cheers for the links WPyogi, they led me to solution after a while. I ended up using this one: https://writenowdesign.com/blog/wordpress/wordpress-how-to/how-to-add-a-responsive-menu-to-wordpress-twenty-twelve-template/
