(Theme: Twenty-twelve) How to get plugins to work in sidebar?

  • Hi, I’m trying to get the ‘Odesk Hire Me Widget’ to display in the main sidebar of my site, https://tedstoriesthatsell.com. It involves use of a shortcode, [odesk_hire_me profile_id=”YOUR_PROFILE_ID” width=”WIDGET_WIDTH”].

    I saw instructions here telling me to put the shortcode in the functions.php file (to make the plugin work within a widget). However, the instructions didn’t say exactly where in the file to put it and I wound up breaking the theme. Happily, I was able to fix the theme. But now I am left with the original issue: How do I get the plugin to work in the sidebar without breaking the theme?

    What is the easiest way to do that?
