[Theme: Twenty Twelve] 404 Not Found status text, but page loads OK
-
WordPress version 4.0
Theme: Twenty Twelve
Nothing customized. Everything up to date. When I go to https://boundoff/com/archive/ and look at it using Inspect Element and choose the “Network” tab, the path name “archive/” has a Status Text as “404 Not Found” but the page appears to load correctly.
Even though the page appears to load correctly, this causes the bots at Google AdWords to interpret the 404 as an “invalid http response” and has been disallowing ad campaigns to direct to the Archive page.
This problem has been occurring since June 2, 2014. My provider suspects an issue with the theme. Since the theme was created by wordpressdotorg, I figured I would post in this forum.
The problem doesn’t occur with all pages on the boundoff site, all of which use Twenty Twelve. Just the Archive page and the Soundtrack page: https://boundoff.com/soundtrack/
Searching Google, the closest description by others to my issue would be this: https://technicallyeasy.net/2010/07/web-server-returns-404-instead-of-200-status-code/
Stack Overflow notes a possible workaround that I would prefer to not undertake: https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/66331/how-does-one-suppress-a-404-status-code-in-a-wordpress-page
