• I’m just starting out with the WordPress using the Twenty Fourteen theme. Is it possible to select the featured posts in the grid layout on the Home page from specific categories rather than just having the latest six posts? I realise I will probably have to create a child theme and edit some php code, but that’s not a problem if someone can point me in the right direction.

The first stab at the page is here:

  • in my mind,on the home page, the grid layout space just show the posts you’ve added the tag “featured” or some word you define, maybe not the latest six posts?

To get a post in the grid the “Sticky” check-box under “Publish -> Visibility” needs to be ticked. I’ll have to create a few more posts with different tags and categories to see which six are featured.

I’ll need to dig deeper into making a child theme and find which php file I need to modify to display these posts in a selective manner.

Thanks for your help so far.
