[Theme; Twenty Eleven] Search Label – not appearing in IE8

Hey!

In most browsers – inside my search box – the word “Search” appears in white.

However in IE 7 and IE 8 – the word does not appear at all.

In my styles I have this:

body, input, textarea {
    color: #fff !important;
    font: 300 15px/1.625 "Helvetica Neue",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;
}

Can someone help me style this so that the word “Search” also appears in those browsers.
