Hello Can someone help me to create a drop down menu from the main menu bar?

This question is probably pretty stupid but I am new to wordpress so I’m not sure how to do it.

I can’t really post my website here because it is currently being routed to my other website.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

  • Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress 3.2 theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. Create a child theme for your customisations.

That said, Twenty Eleven already had a drop down main menu.

Thank you for your response. However, even though i heard that it does have a drop down menu, but i don’t know how to set it up.

It’s kind of ridiculous but I really can’t figure out how to do it in the theme options under menus.

    Thanks.

I just found it myself. You need to look at the “help” for the Appearance/Menus page–there’s nothing on the page itself. The answer is buried in the end of the last paragraph:

“You can also drag a menu item a little to the right to make it a submenu, to create menus with hierarchy. Drop the item into its new nested placement when the dotted rectangle target shifts over, also a little to the right. Don’t forget to click Save when you’re finished.”

I just tried it and it works nicely.

OMG!!! thank you soooo much! it works!

WordPress is awesome. I just created drop-down menus by dragging and dropping. I can even create a sub-submenu by dragging and dropping.

Working on the same thing; ran into a slightly different problem. Everything drags and drops just fine, but when I go to save the menu I created, all of my “child” pages automatically shift back to the left. Any ideas why?

Have deleted my menu and started over. No luck. Under Pages, all my pages are correctly placed under their parent page. I’ve tried making them all top level pages here and then designating them as child pages under Appearance > Menus. Also tried deactivating all (2) of my plugins as another post recommended. Doesn’t work.

Any help? I’m using the Weaver II theme. I not tech savvy at all, so anything involving code would need to be explained as if talking to a 5 year old: “Click the mouse on button X. Copy this. Paste it here. Press enter…” ??

    Thanks!

To wperic you solution works perfectly. I appreciate the info. Regards

I have the main menu setup but cannot get the drop down menu to work.
The used drag drop feature in Appearance-> Menu to create a drop down but when i try to click it on the live page, it disappears.
What am i missing? do i need to edit something in the functions.php or any other file? weviva.org is the website.

    Pls help? Appreciate it …
